EFFECTIVE TEAM STRUCTURE AT

IFCNJ

  • Everyone knows, understands the vision, and is committed to the vision.

  • Most ministry is carried out by teams, not individuals or committees.

  • Most decisions are made at team level. If a team has responsibility to facilitate a ministry, it will have the authority to make decisions in that ministry.

  • Teams assume responsibility for their ministries. Authority goes with responsibility. If a team has authority it also needs to take responsibility for the outcomes.

  • People involved are committed. They have a strong sense of ownership of their ministry.

  • Each person has a clear knowledge of their responsibility. This may be in the form of a detailed job description or brief outline of responsibilities.

  • Much effort is put into finding the right person for the right job, rather than just placing people in positions when there are needs.

  • Each person is supported by the Pastoral Team. The structure provides a clear support person for everyone involved.

  • Lines of communication are clear and communication is constant. Everyone knows who to talk to if there are problems or issues that need addressing.

  • Leaders are listeners, coaches and facilitators. They are there to serve those in ministry.

  • There are very few layers of management and we have no experts.

  • Leaders are supported regularly through regular communication and contact.

  • Leaders are accountable for their team and ministry and are encouraged to reflect on their ministry.

  • Appropriate training is available and encouraged. Church resources are allocated to training, if necessary.

  • Structural changes occur frequently and smoothly. There is no need to guard the status quo.  We understand that people want to be effective in ministry.

  • The achievements of committed teams and servants are celebrated.

  • Rules and restrictions are kept to a minimum. WE ARE RAISING THE STANDARD

  • Innovation is encouraged and short-term failures are supported because people understand that risk will inevitably produce some failures. Repeated short term failures are discouraged and not supported.

  • Remember, all it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.

  • IFCNJ statement of purpose for Church Discipline.

  • We will enact church discipline, not for the purpose of punishment or retribution, but for the purpose of:

    • Repentance: To see the offender turn from repeated wrongful behaviour.

    • Redemption: To bring the offender into a right relationship with God and Men.

    • Restitution:   To bring justice where someone suffered wrong or loss.

    • Restoration   To re-establish fellowship.
