Fasting & PrayerCorporate Prayer and Fasting - beginning January 7th - 28th 2008
LORD, SEND A REVIVAL AMONGST US! If you read the book of Acts you’ll find that most of the church growth (souls being added and multiplied) happened as a result of God moving in a corporate gathering. CONSIDER YOUR OWN LIFE! I want to see us all go to the next level—but it is going to take prayer! That is why we are excited about special times of fasting and prayer. Our hearts are crying out, "LORD TOUCH YOUR PEOPLE AGAIN! LORD DO SOMETHING NEW IN OUR LIVES AND IN OUR WORSHIP SERVICES!" We must set aside time to focus on praying and receiving His Spirit in our lives. Here are some suggestions
to help you in your prayer times and also Corporate Prayer times: We
understand that there are many different ways to pray as there are
Christians, but these guidelines will help us all stay on track.
1.
Set
yourself apart for the LORD. Switch off TV, Video games, other
"meaningful" distractions and pick up your Bible and
begin to READ the Word of God - the Bible.
2. Establish
a daily time and a place for prayer. Do not allow anything or
anyone to take this time away.
3.
You can fast
one meal, two meals or go on a dry fast, where you will not eat any
meats, sweets, breads, but drink water and eat dry bread / toast or
have clear soups.
4. Come
to Church service with your Bible, come prepared to express your love
towards the LORD. Join
in to praise and worship the Lord and to have extended time of
ministering unto the LORD.
5. Beginning
January 7th, daily take 30 minutes to pray (kneel if you can) and repent of
those things that God will remind you. Ask your
family to forgive you if you have offended them or ask forgiveness of
one another. Forgive others. Ask the LORD to forgive you, the Holy
Spirit is going to bring conviction upon your heart as your soak in
prayer.
6. Read
the Word of God daily for 30 minutes. We encourage the congregation to
read the entire book of Deuteronomy during
these days. Commitment to doing this on a consistent basis is very
important.
7. Join
us during the week for corporate time of prayer and worship. This may
require you to sacrifice some outside activities, but with proper
planning your schedules you will be able to prioritize these times of
prayer. Everyone is encouraged to come on these days, They are marked
with dark shade in the calendar.
8. If
you do not know what to pray, read the Psalms and pray those prayers
unto the LORD. Remember, repentance will bring in times of refreshing
from the Father God. (the devil may try hard to keep you distracted
but you have to keep all these distractions out of your life) 9. Pray for the following points: a) Salvation of souls; b) Personal Renewal; c) Marriages to be strengthened; d) Hearts to be prepared; e) Physical and emotional healing to take place; f) Holiness to be established in your life; g) Hearts to be softened for the move of God; h) Families to be restored; i) children to be filled with the Holy Spirit; j) Youth to be revived for the LORD, worldly influence to break off; k) Hearts to be become obedient unto the LORD in the area of commitment, worship, prayer and giving; l) God to bring in the increase; m) Academic success in the lives of the students; n) Financial increase; o) Families to be filled with joy and peace in the Holy Spirit. |
